Beautiful braids

When my cousin came to visit last week, we spent some time at the local street fair (see Elephant Ear Delight below), and we got our hairs braided. I love having braided hair. Note that I love having it braided FOR me. When I do it myself, it is lopsided. No, this is not an issue with practice, it's just that I need to SEE it...and not in a mirror, that's a whole 'nother disaster altogether. *grin* I wish I had the dexterous fingers and that inner minds' eye to do things without looking at them. I'm not so good at that blindfolded drawing skill used in Cranium, either.

Not an iota of guilt

I haven't had an elephant ear in ages. AGES. I would have to date it back to the last time I went to a state fair, which is easily 20 years. And, damn. It was so tasty. I was also very glad I'd had a vigorous, sweaty workout previously in the day. Not an iota of guilt. Pure bliss. And paired with REAL lemonade, made from real lemons? It just doesn't get any better than this.

I've been TAGGED!!

Lisa tagged me. Now I'm it. So, here goes:

So this is how it works. I must post the rules, 7 random things about me and then tag others to do the same. Sound fair enough, right? These are the rules…. each player starts with 7 random facts about themselves on their Blog. People who are tagged need to blog 7 facts about themselves and post the rules as well. At the end of their blog list 7 people you are tagging. Let them know that they are tagged by leaving them a comment.

1) I have a bunch of torn-off calendar pages from my Bad Cat daily calendar pasted on the wall just above my monitor, so I get a giggle when I need one.
2) I do not fear cicadas, but I really don't like it when they fly up in my face. I am not looking forward to weeding this week.
3) I have lost 16 pounds, and want to lose more, but I can feel the difference in my clothes and see it on my face.
4) Even though I do not hoard, I am collecting a ton of stuff for my garage sale next week. I am a big time purger. And I am itching to get offline and purge some more stuff. And then organize it all. Where is the day going?
5) I have hair that falls past my shoulders by about 3 inches, but I rarely wear it down. And I have no interest in getting it cut short.
6) I love buttons with humorous sayings on them-- not the type of button on a shirt, but the kind of button with a metal pin backing. I have a small collection, about 30, and they make me smile. Feel free to send me some. *wink*
7) I have expensive tastes, but I do not like shopping much. Probably a good combination for my credit score!

Okay, I am tagging the following people: Dawn, Mandy, Lora, Jill, Colleen, Judy, & Margie

A bit wrapped up in myself

Today's Quote from A Fancy Word for Simple:
"If you are all wrapped up in yourself, you are over- dressed."
-----Kate Halverson

Good morning! I think there are a few occasions in life where one deserves to be wrapped up in one's self ... and also a few where one should be overdressed. Like winning an Oscar ... or a wonderful prize package from Making Memories!! *big grin* Forgive me for being wrapped up -- I just cannot help it -- I've just learned this morning that I won an awesome prize from Making Memories -- and now I am truly delighted that I've been pulling out old scrapbooking supplies to put in my garage sale next weekend - I'll now have room for new goodies! Isn't life wonderful? *putting on my diva-licious, bling shades* SWEET!

Just playin' at being li'l ol' ME!!

"There comes a time when you stand up and shout:

'This is me darn it! I will look the way I look, think the way I think, feel the way I feel, love the way I love! I am a whole complex package. Take me... or leave me. Accept me - or walk away! Do not try to make me feel like less of a person, just because I don't fit your idea of who I should be and don't try to change me to fit your mold. If I need to change, I alone will make that decision.'

When you are strong enough to love yourself 100%, good and bad--you will be amazed at the opportunities life presents you."

So, sue me. I'm goofy. *grin*

I'm baaaa-aaack!!!

We had a truly MAGICAL time on our trip. Once we got the hiccups out of the way (friend forgot to pick us up to go to the airport, ladies chattered endlessly in the row behind us while my sweetie tried to sleep on the airplane, and flight attendant dropped a can of cranberry juice and splashed my beloved), our vacation could not have gone more perfectly. Here are some of the unbelievable highlights:
- I traded for a commemorative Year of a Million Dreams pin, only to lose it 6 hours later on Test Track ... and have a child (who had no idea I'd lost it and was sad) offer it up to me while Cast Members were trying to look for my lost pin on the ride vehicle!
- Of all the times we went to board a mode of transportation (monorail, boat, train, raft), only TWICE did we have to wait more than 2 minutes. Wow!
- We had signed photos and balloons delivered to our rooms on our birthdays!
- We got into the Hoop Dee Doo Revue at the last minute!
- We got to ride Pirates of the Carribean, Haunted Mansion, Peter Pan, and Laugh Floor TWICE each!
- We hit EVERY attraction we wanted in all FOUR theme parks!
- The weather was mostly sunny, with NO rain all day, every day!
- When I left my Key to the World at a gift shop, the Cast Member RAN out to the buses to bring it to me (for those of you familiar with EPCOT, imagine running from underneath Spaceship Earth all the way past the exit, past Guest Services, to the bus area!)...and this was AFTER she surprised me by giving me a Malificient pin off her lanyard to wish me a Happy Birthday!
- My sweetie offered to get me a balloon on several occasions, which I found very sweet (I've always wanted one of those balloons within a balloon), but I turned him down -- I'm awfully practical that way.
- We bought each other birthday presents to commemorate the trip, and we found things that are truly special to each other!
- We had not a single argument the entire trip, despite being a bit sleep deprived ... and my beloved being very physically worn out. We did a great job checking in with each other to determine what we wanted to do and what we felt we could handle. He didn't even push me to go on any scary rides after I braved Splash Mountain!

What more could a person ask for?????
