Tea time

We've just come from tea. Look at the delightful selection of scrumptions morsels: Ignore all previous pleas for help. We've got food. And water. And sun. And sunscreen ... which is doing the best it can on our pale pale bodies. Well, now, more like pink and red bodies. *grin* It was worth it, though, to see those lovely parrotfish!!!

Five minutes ago, we were sitting right here, having lunch:
I had a delicious pineapple-mango bisque, grilled chicken salad, and a white chocolate and dark chocolate mousse cake. Suffering, aren't I. My sweetie had a variety of cold salads (hearts of palm, avocados, tomatoes, artichoke hearts...), a fresh array of fruits & vegetables, and a chocolate chip cookie. He is also, obviously, suffering.Here is our view while we dine. Pity us. We are trapped here. Help. No, wait, never mind. We could stay here for a while.

Busy, busy, busy

I'm happy -- my papers sold for almost $8.00. I am rummaging around for a flat rate box & then they'll be out of the house & on their way to a new owner! It feels good for things to move along and move OUT of my living space.

This weekend is just packed to the gills...here's what's shaping up:
Saturday:
Trip to Farmers' Market
Brunch with about a dozen people, next door
Tai Chi class
Dinner with my sis-in-law & her husband, followed by
a show at the Chicago Tap Theatre

Sunday:
RENFEST!!!!!

And that'll pretty much wipe me out! But in a good way. *grin* I need to get out some cash, make sure my car is all gassed up, and drag out all my gear & accouterments. And make sure I have spare batteries for the camera.

Oh, I do hope my 12x12 papers sell on eBay! Keep your fingers crossed for me, too! *grin* No one wanted them from my garage sale ... and they're in perfectly good shape, just not my style! So far, the winning bidder is getting them for less than 9 cents a sheet! I'll just be happy if they go to a new home. Okay, I'll be VERY happy if I get more money for them, but I am already happy someone's covering postage & gas money it takes to get to the post office. *smile*

The Lifespan of a Peach Cobbler

I'm not fussy, BUT ...
1) I hate tomatoes. But will eat tomato sauce and ketchup with startling regularity. Unless someone has snuck chunks into them, in which case they become abhorrent.
2) Do not move my computer chair. I have it perfectly positioned, right where I want it. I can spin in it and get up on the other side, I do not need it moved. I can tell instantly if someone has been at my computer.
3) Leave the toilet seat in a "seated" position. Come on, folks, let's do the math. Women use the toilet set in this position 100% of the time. Men use it in this position about 50% of the time. Don't be a jerk and leave the seat up. It's only useful to another male who is peeing.

Kitty Cat Humor

I got these in my email. I just cannot resist sharing them. Laughter is good for the heart & soul.

Ever have one of those moments in time...

...where everything feels like it's perfectly in synch? I had one of those tonight in sword class. We were learning a disarm. Something that looked just amazing when the instructor did it ... and when he showed us how to do it for the 4th time & asked "Does everyone understand what to do?", I said to myself "Uh, NO ... but I know you'll come around and help when I'm stuck." I went off with my partner, and we figured we'd just see what bits we could figure out. We went into the cross ... and the next thing I knew, I was twisting and pulling and *pop!* pulled his sword right out of his hands. It felt instinctual. It wasn't very clean ... so I asked the instructor for help, but it turned out I did have the basics of it down. Man, that felt so freakin' good, I cannot even begin to tell you. We also did this intricate strike-and-parry rotational thing that took me a while to get the hang of ... but I had a more advanced student for a partner & he was super super super helpful, which rocked. The instructor came by & said "I don't see you making any of the mistakes every one else is making." My question "Okay, so what mistakes are we making?" He said everything looked great. *contented sigh* If I was doing this kind of workout every day, I'd be more well-muscled, let me tell you!

Kettle Corn

One of the staples at our local farmers' market is kettle corn. They make it fresh, right in front of ya - and the smell is enough to drive a sane man crazy. Yesterday I walked right by, my mental tally already reaching my spending limit, with blueberries, raspberries, corn, and some dipping mixes made by this sweet lady. So, I enjoyed the smell of the kettle corn, free of charge, felt my mouth water ... and then went on to pick out the best looking pint of blueberries. *grin*

Silver lining

Welcome to Illinois, home of corn & soybeans. We saw our fair share of it while traversing the route betwixt Springfield & the urban environs of Chicago. It's hypnotic, miles and miles of flat land, lush green, cornstalks and beans undulating in the breezes. That's also part of what makes driving for 3 hours difficult for me to tolerate. If I could sleep in a car, this would lull me to dreamland...so it's probably a GOOD thing I don't sleep in vehicles. We hit a snag of traffic -- covered less than 3 miles in 20 minutes -- which allowed me to roll the window down and get some great pictures. *grin* The cause for the slowdown? There were construction barrels placed to block off the left lane for a grand total of 0.3 miles. *shaking head in disbelief* But, hey -- I got some fun pictures, right? And we listened to some awesome tunes on my iPod!
