Today's quote from A Fancy Word for Simple:

I actually think that big bats cause more troubles than they solve. I can understand the idea of feeling attacked on all sides and needing to have a bat to beat them away, but in my life, I've rarely found that to be a solution. The trouble just learn to avoid the bat and hit lower. As a button of mine reads: I tried to drown my sorrows, but the little suckers learned how to swim.
